The cannabis lineages are those that are formed by specimens that have common genetics, origin and characteristics. In the history of marijuana it is possible to find different lineages according to different locations, the plant adapts to the environment and therefore there are differences that give rise to other characteristics. The strains hunters began in the 60's and the most mythical races came out until the 80's and early 90's (in this case we can talk about the Skunk, the Kush, Haze, etc.). While in recent years, the most recent strains have emerged mostly in the Emerald Triangle of California (such as strains Gelato, Zkittle or Diesel). Some of these strains are the result of extensive genetic work carried out by breeders over many years, and others are the result of chance and accidental and unscheduled crosses.

When we talk about marijuana strains, we always talk about plants that resemble each other in aroma, structure and, some times, even in flowering time. For example, in the case of the Skunk, we can expect that many of the crosses made with this strain will have the typical Skunk aroma. Thus, within the same strain, we can expect to obtain some characteristics that remain from individual to individual and that some others change, due to the unique characteristics of each genetic cross.

Almost always there is standard, either by being the original origin of the strain or because it is the most outstanding in aroma, potency, production or the set of all characteristics. Thus, when we talk about Skunk, we have clear that the original one is the Skunk #1 of Sensi Seeds. Another example is the strain Blueberry the strain that stands out most is the Blueberry of Dutch Passion.

The main advantage of categorizing marijuana strains by strains of cannabis comes when we want to choose strains that we already know and look for something similar but not exactly the same. In this way, we can find within the strain of the strain that we liked and find other similar plants or that share a cross with that strain.
