The cannabis strain Diesel is one of the most mythical strains, known and appreciated around the world, especially in the United States. Its name is given by the aromatic notes that includes petrol aroma and kerosene. Hence the name Diesel.
In addition to its characteristic aroma, another factor highlighted in the Diesel strain is its power, which almost always exceeds 20% THC with a strong cerebral and uplifting effect.
Diesel history of the cannabis is, as it happens with other strains of the same epoch, uncertain and different theories exist. One of the most accepted is directly connected to the breeder Chemdog (and for that reason concerns the OG Kush itself, even if it is a strain that belongs to another strains families). For this reason, in order to understand the history of this strain, it is necessary to know the history of Chemdog itself. In 1991, during a Grateful Dead concert, the young breeder Chemdog bought a weed bag of marijuana from between the states of Oregon and California, which was called Dog Bud. This marijuana seemed to him so incredible that he asked for the contact of the people who obtained it so in could order some more to be sent to his house. This second time the bag brought a total of 13 mixed seeds, of which the male parental was unknown (it is thought that they could be the result of a self-pollination).
Throughout the next years, this breeder was germinating the seeds that had found and catalogued them. From there came, among others, the genetics Chemdog '91 (the original and best known) and Chem D, which was one of the genetic basis for the marijuana Diesel.
In 1992 Weasel was able to obtain from the hands of Chemdog two genetics, the Chemdog '91 and the Massachusetts Super Skunk. As Weasel did not like the name, he renamed it New York City Diesel. A little later, in 1995, this breeder decided to cross the Chemdog '91 with the Massachusetts Super Skunk and the Northern Lights of Sensi Seeds and called the result Original Diesel.
Another crossing of the Diesel strain that emerged a few years later was the Sour Diesel, the result of a fortuitous pollination between DNL or the Massachusetts Super Skunk with a Chemdog '91.
Among the strains that we have available in the Diesel cannabis strain we have to highlight the Diesel from Dinafem Seeds, the strain as devised by Weasel in 1995 with its cross.
Another strain that stands out is the NYC Diesel, from Soma Seeds, a strain recovered in the Netherlands that maintains the characteristics of the original genetics as received by Weasel in 1992.
Finally we have available the strain that gave origin to all the Diesel strain, the Chemdawg of Humboldt Seeds. The original flavor without mixtures, as it was received by the breeder Chemdog in 1991.
