The Afghan strain is one of the most important pillars of today's cannabis lines, since its genetics has allowed to develop many new strains that ended up winning the HTCC. It is thought that the Afghan strain was the first to be consumed by humans thounsands of years ago.

Cannabis specimens were adapted to the tough weather of the mountainous areas in Afghanistan to create a new kind of marijuana, the Indian marijuana. Developing very different characteristics than Sativa original kind. For that reason we can consider the Afghan and Pakistani genetics as the origin of the most compact, shrubby and relaxing strains.

In modern times Afghan genetics arrival to Europe and the United States because mainly due to the famous Hippie Trail of the 70s, when young people from developed countries made trips to the Middle East (Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, etc.) trying to enjoy the longest time away from home without spending a lot of money and, at the same time, try the different types of marijuana available in those areas. When they returned home they took with them memories, among seeds of Afghan strains they had tried.

The selection and genetic crosses with the Afghan varieties that were collected during these trips originated a large part of the current existing specimens, as this genetics is present in varieties such as Skunk, Kush, Blueberry and many more, providing greater resistance to temperatures, greater yield and a more balanced effect.
