But let's start with its history, continue reading to know why Haze has become so famous among growers over the world.
The story, or rather legend, begins in Santa Cruz, California, the cannabis cradle in the 60s and 70s, where a couple of brothers known as the Haze Brothers liked to grow both indoors and outdoors. They had a homemade greenhouse that allowed them to grow slow-flowering sativa and worked with Colombian and Mexican strains. They created the first three purely Sativa Landraces crossing, one from Mexico (which could be Acapulco Gold) and two from Colombia (possibly Colombian Gold and Colombian Red), although there is a lot of controversy with this, there are opinions that support this theory and many others that discard it. We must say that we don't even know who those Haze Brothers were, which makes the legend grow even more.
It is said that later the brothers befriended Sam The Skunkman, who lived in his neighborhood, and gave him this unstable crossing. Sam and his collective Sacred Seeds kept this first Haze and worked very hard to stabilize it. It was crossed with strains from southern India and Thai, creating the definitive strain that we know so well today, the first stable Haze.
When it appeared, the Original Haze was quite homogeneous, but still unstable, so from that instability came strains that managed to settle, such as Purple Haze, also very famous, as well as Root Beer, Light Silver Green, Silver Blue Haze or Lime Green Haze.
After this it is said that the Haze Bros got angry with each other, and that meant each one went their own way, although there are also old members of Sacred Seeds who maintain that they never met these brothers, just as there are people who feed the legend saying that at that time they met some brothers who smoked like angry Indians and hence their name. Who knows?
Closed this chapter, Sam moved to Holland in 1982, which enjoyed a much more permissive policy regarding marijuana and so-called soft drugs since 1975, and in the 80's was the best place in the world to work legally with cannabis and be able to develop more quietly the genetics he took with him, including Skunk #1, the Hindu Kush, the Early Pearl, the California Orange and of course the Original Haze.
For it he created at his arrival the Cultivator´s Choice, that would close at the end of the 80's. At this time he sold his genetics to growers who would have a very important role in stabilizing genetics, among them Wernard Bruining, founder of Positronics, who was the first to market the Skunk #1 and the Original Haze. When the company went bankrupt in 1996 some employees took material from the company and founded their own seed banks, such as The Nirvana Seeds, The Super Sativa Seed Club and Homegrown Fantaseed. On the other hand Eddy, who had worked very closely with Skunkman, founded The Flying Dutchmen and was the only company that sold Skunk #1 and Original Haze in the 90's after the closure of Positronics.
Here comes Neville, an Australian of Dutch descent, who was a dealer and consumer of marijuana in his land, where he began to work with illegal substances in a laboratory, which he experimented from end to end, to end up hooked on heroin. In the end, after being arrested several times in his country of origin, he arrived in Holland, where with the help of a rehabilitation program he managed to raise the money needed to buy a farm on the German border, which he himself called "The Castle of Cannabis" and worked with the Indica that at that time was within his reach. He finally opened the first mail order cannabis seed company in 1984, the legendary The Seed Bank of Holland.
Neville bought Haze seeds from Sam and had 5 plants, three females he would call B, D and E and two males named A and C. From there came spectacular hybrids such as Early Pearl x Skunk #1 x Northern Lights #5 x Haze, which won the second Cannabis Cup in 89, repeating the following year.
With time as you well know, the Northern Lights#5 x Haze or the Jack Herer (Northern Light#5 x Haze C x Skunk x Haze A) became institutions of this world on their own.
The DEA (Drug Control Administration of the United States of America), chased Neville hard because of his seed company by mail. After getting him arrested in 1990 (although the charges were eventually dismissed), he sold his "Cannabis Castle" along with his genetics to Ben Dronkers, owner of Sensi Seed Club, now renamed Sensi Seeds Bank.
Withdrawn from the crop, Neville was co-owner of the Greenhouse Cofeeshop and created in 95 along with Shantibaba the Greenhouse Seeds Bank, from which came new hybrids, such as the Silver Haze that won the Cannabis Cup for three years in a row, from 97 to 99.
After 30 years, still not knowing why, the Haze being less productive and complex tasting continues to enchant growers. This is the legacy left to us by Sam and Neville, a dense fog, a jumble of stories, of which we don't know for sure where the legend ends and the truth begins, but equally grateful that some smokers thought it could happen if they crossed Sativas.
1. High potency: Due to its sativa influence and long flowering period, Haze can produce outrageous levels of cannabinoids.
2. Psychedelic: Such high cannabinoid levels, as well as its sativa influence and tropical characteristics, make Haze cannabis one of the most psychedelic in the world.
3. Euphoria: The combination of sativa genes, as well as the great capacity to generate cannabinoids make Haze marijuana a plant that usually produces this effect.
4. Aroma: The Haze aroma has long been defined as Haze aroma, as it has characteristics that make it special and loved at the same time.
5. Pure Sativa: Within the Haze family you can find many pure Sativa strains, which is a delight for Haze lovers.
From Experiencia Natural we would like to highlight some of our many Haze strains available for you.
Sensi Seeds Northern Lights 5 x Haze is a direct descendant of the Haze we talked about earlier. It's a hybrid with part Indica, but with a predominantly Sativa genotype, with a high THC level, which produces buds longer and thicker than your own arm, as well as being very easy to clone. The high it offers is a mixture of the psychedelic cerebral experience on its part Haze with great body relaxation provided by its indica part. A plant that makes history.
One of the "failures" that was to stabilize the Haze genetics gave rise to this wonder strain, the Purple Haze #1 by Positronics is the improved version of the classic purple haze of the 70 that popularized Jimmy Hendrix besides being the most consumed marijuana in Woodstock. This plant develops in the shape of a candelabra, and its branches usually weigh so much that it may need supports. Large distance between its branches and wide range of shades at the end of flowering, from garnet to purple. The cerebral high is very creative and immediately effective, both long-lasting, not recommended for beginners.
Finally we have the Silver Haze, which does not lag behind with the awards. It is suitable for beginners and compared to its predecessor has improved quite a bit because it needs less space to produce its huge buds elongated and full of resin that cover it completely. Its taste is citrus and the high it offers is cerebral and very euphoric.
